I was asked recently “why don’t you buy coffee from Vietnam? Vietnam is the second largest producer of coffee in the world!" That question is very common and very understandable so I thought I'd explain why, in fact, we don't get coffee beans from there. The reason Perfect Roast Coffee doesn’t buy its' beans from Vietnam, Mexico or even Nicaragua, to mention a few, is simply because they don’t measure up to our quality. 95% of their beans are Robusta, and we only buy Arabica because these beans are considered to be top quality and definitely superior to Robusta. Robusta beans are grown at lower elevations and don't have well-refined flavor characteristics. Also, all of our coffee at Perfect Roast Coffee must have a cupping score from the Specialty Coffee Association of America of 85 or higher to be considered specialty coffee. Vietnam, like several other countries we don't buy our beens from, has none anywhere near that range. So many bags of coffee in your local grocery store are coffee beans from countries that are of low ratings from the Specialty Coffee Association. If you are only looking to save money then it would be your choice. However, we would highly recommend always checking and making sure that the coffee beans you buy are Arabica. After all, we are what we put in our bodies. Always pay attention to the country of origin of the coffee you buy. THE BEST COFFEE COUNTRIES are Panama, Ethiopia, Kenya, Hawaii, Colombia, Guatemala, Rwanda. These are the countries that have a number of coffee achieving a cupping score of over 90! At Perfect Roast Coffee we buy our green coffee beans from these countries then roast them to perfection.
